Adding insurance

Adding your insurance information in AdviceCafé

On the Finances page, the Insurance plans section is where you add all of your current insurance plans' coverage amounts and the years they were issued. Your insurance plans also include employer-sponsored and group insurance coverage.

Note: If you don't know what your policy or coverage amount is, consult with your insurance provider.

There are three types of insurance plans to choose from:

  • Life - Add the type of policy you have in the description (e.g. term-life insurance, whole-life, etc.), the coverage amount, and the year it was issued.
  • Health - Add the type of policy you have in the description (e.g. group insurance coverage or individual health insurance policy), coverage, and the year it was issued.
  • Disability - Add the type of disability coverage you have in the description (your own, or any occupation), as well as the type of disability definition if you know it (own-occupation or any-occupation coverage). Add the total monthly coverage, and the year it was issued.

Note: Other types of insurance (car, home, etc.) are prompted in the Housing, Transportation and Financial Obligations sections. Premiums deducted from your take-home pay can be ignored.
